Catching up

It has been a long time since I have sat down and written anything.  It has been a long hard year for our family- in fact the past 3 years has been some of the hardest in my life. To God be the glory for the things he has done and will continue to do.  I would not make it without faith in God and that He is in control.

I am in the middle of the last year of Homeschooling, it is a very sad place for me.  Though it was a long tough road- I would do it again.  I really miss having them all home.  I guess I am going through a bit of empty nest issues- though I still have 2 children home- one of them is in college. My baby turns 17 tomorrow.  I am wondering what the rest of my life will look like from here.

My honey comes home from Iraq in 10 days, and I am very ready to see him.  This is one phase of my life that I am ready to close the book on, praying he can find a job stateside this next year.

So I continue on with living my on my Urban Homestead, dreaming of trading it for a real country homestead.

The last six months has been full of wedding preparations for my oldest daughter, she has moved to San Antonio, working as a substitute teacher and plans on marrying in the spring.

My oldest son, has moved to Minot, ND to work in the oil field industry.  He is doing well, and I am excited that he is happy.

My third child and second son, is continuing to help my parents with their farm.  He works full time, part time and then helps out when he can. My nephew also lives on the property with his wife, so they help share some of the jobs.  My mom and dad are still very active, but my dad is having some heart issues that has him on easy duty right now. We cant stop my mom, I do not know where all her energy comes from! She still works circles around me!

Our second daughter and fourth child is taking her basic classes at the local jr. college, with plans to get her nursing rn, then apply for the mission field through our denomination.

Our baby and third daughter, will be 17 tomorrow- a senior in high school... she is on a journey to see what she likes and does not like in work and life- I am excited about her making some discoveries and getting on a path toward those goals.

I still have my chickens, though only one of the original is still living.  My pullets are just starting to lay, i regularly get 3 eggs a day and on occasion 4. I ended up with a bantam rooster- we named him Tex- he is a guard rooster- crows when ever anyone comes outside- even the neighbors..

I have down sized my garden to only 4 raised beds- they are full of fall plants and I cant wait to get them harvested.... I love fresh salads from my garden.

I look forward to any of you that can help me through the empty nest thing--- its coming on early for me- I still have 2 here and feel like my home is empty!  yikes!
